Thought for the Day

Someday, I hope to be the man my son thinks I am.

Speaking as a son, Dad was Superman until I was about 12.

Then he was "Oh, it's DAD." *eyeroll* until I was out of the house.

Now, he's not Superman - more like Batman. He can still do damn near anything, but he isn't invincible. I'm OK with that.

My dad is still cool. The coolest. I don't know that I ever thought he wasn't, even at the height of my teen years. Difference between sons and daughters, I suppose.

And for a guy who was, according to my mom, pretty ambivalent about the idea of having kids...well, you'd never know it now. Shocked me something fierce when she told me that about five years ago.

Amen, and amen.

But some day, he will understand you better. That's the day his first kid is born.
