Samuel Colt or John Moses Browning? JMB was the man, but I do share Mr. Colt's birthday, so it's a toss-up.
Full Auto or three round burst? Full Auto.
.30-06 (God's Own Caliber, Old Testament) or .308 (God's Own Caliber, New Testament) Depends, semi, or bolt?

Selected answers:

Metric. Please oh please why can't we just let standard measurements DIE? Have you ever tried to do a calculation where you have to figure out and convert from pound (force) to pound (mass)? If you have a pound of mass, then why does standard also have the measurement of a slug? Why do all the calculations want it in pound (mass) when there already IS a mass measurement? AND THAT'S ONLY FOR MASSES! Don't get me started on miles. WHY ARE THERE 5280 FEET IN A MILE? WHY NOT 5285 FEET?

Deep breath.

Pickup truck.
Pontoon boat (or a house boat, but it's on pontoons, so it's all good)
I was raised on Star Wars and Star Trek--when I was younger I like Star Wars so much more, but as George Lucas continues to do Dumb Things to his legacy, I've come to enjoy Star Trek much more.
Mountains, but I'd even go with a tent over a cabin.
Not a fan of tea
My kindle has only free books on it (somewhere around 100 at last count) but my book shelf has more books and more gravitas
Heffalump, I can't think of Unicorns without thinking of Charlie the Unicorn, and that is just annoying

I carry an XD, which is like some sort of horrible hybrid between the two
AR
I dream of revolvers. But I shoot semi's. Someday I shall have both. It Has Been Written.
Pump
Iron
No idea
JMB sees so far because he is standing on Colt's shoulders

Firearms:
Keltec, .22 WMR thanks.
Uzi!

Peter said...

OK, I'll play. I'll have to answer in two parts, as Blogger won't accept the whole thing in one go.

GENERAL INTEREST.

1. Standard or Metric?
Yes.

2. Minivan or muscle car?
Minivan, please. A fused spine and nerve damage in my left leg make getting into cramped sports cars . . . interesting.

3. Speed boat or pontoon boat?
One of these, please: http://tinyurl.com/6gfguar

4. Star Wars or Star Trek?
How can I exist in a universe without Chewbacca?

5. Snow skiing or water skiing?
Neither, thanks. See (2) above.

6. Cabin in the Mountains or Condo on the Beach?
I like the sea, but I'd want to be in an area where hurricanes (or the equivalent) don't come ashore very often (preferably not at all). If that can't be guaranteed, mountains, please - as long as there are no earthquakes or avalanches! How about the plains? :-)

7. Iced Tea - Sweet or Un-Sweet?
Neither, you Philistine! Tea should be hot, the way Queen Victoria intended!

8. Ebook or dead tree?
Oh, e-book by all means. With something like 4,000 dead tree volumes in my personal library, moving house is a nightmare! If I could shed them all for electrons and photons, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It's the contents that matter, not the delivery mechanism.

9. Unicorn or heffalump?
Definitely heffalump. I'm an African boy. :-)

FIREARMS.

1. Glock or 1911?
For looks, a 1911. To bet my life on under all circumstances, in all conditions, a Glock.

2. 9mm. or .45?
A small bullet may expand, but a big bullet won't shrink! .45 all the way.

3. AR-15 or AK-47?
AK-47 every time. Much more reliable, bigger, heavier bullet, and (having been shot twice by one) I can assure you that a 7.62x39mm. hit hurts like a mofo.

4. Revolver or semi?
A pistol for preference, but I can handle either well enough to make someone wish he'd picked a different target.

5. Shotgun - pump or semi?
Pump, thanks. Seen too many semi-auto shotguns malfunction. Most of them are sensitive little buggers.

6. AR-15 - iron sights or optics?
If I can't avoid carrying a Mattel plaything, optics, please. My old eyes ain't what they used to be.

7. Black powder - flintlock, cap, or in-line?
To play with, cap, I think, for the benefits of tradition combined with reasonably reliable ignition. Of course, if I've got to bet my life on it (by gathering my daily deer with it), in-line every time, thanks.

8. Samuel Colt or John Moses Browning?
How can you even ask that question, you heretic? (Genuflects in the direction of Ogden, Utah.)

9. Full auto or three round burst?
With what weapon? With a sub-machine-gun, full auto. With a 5.56x45mm. carbine, three-round burst, please.

10. .30-'06 or .308?
Either will get the job done. The former if I want heavy bullets (over 200 grain), as in Alaska or Africa. The latter for the lower 48 states.

FOOD.

1. Sausage or bacon?
Bacon, you philistine!

2. Irish coffee or tequila sunrise?
In cold weather, the former; in hot weather, the latter. Easy, innit?

3. Jack Daniels or Makers Mark?
Makers Mark, thanks - preferably their new '46'.

4. Pizza - thin crust or deep dish?
In between, thanks; but if I absolutely have to choose, thin crust.

5. Ketchup or mayonnaise?
Blend the two for an interesting taste treat.

6. Barbecue - sweet and tangy or hot and spicy?
I'll eat either, but not to extremes. Too much of either sauce is no fun. I want to taste the meat, too! How about curried barbecue?

7. Chili - beans or no beans?
Who cares? Pass the sauerkraut, please.

8. Christmas - ham or turkey?
Both!

9. Easter - lamb or rabbit?
Oh, lamb every time. Must keep the symbolism of the Passover season, after all.

10. Sushi or Thai food?
I'm fit to be Thai'ed. :-)

11. Steak - moo or charcoal?
Moooooooooo!!!

More to come.
