Just once, I'd like a politician to be honest and say "Guys, the next two to three years are really going to suck. We'll do what we can to blunt the impact on those who can't do for themselves, but everyone else needs to brace for hard times."
A little honesty would make me feel a whole lot better about our political leadership. It would also snap some people out of the magic fairyland they live in where Big Brother will always provide and make sure they are OK.
I'm not hopeful, but it would be nice.

That would be refreshing. Honesty and decisions based on the good of the country instead of on the number of potential votes would be nice.
I also wish there would be some honest politicians. Although I consider Walker from Wisconsin a start.
What is happening in Wisconsin is an encouraging sign, but I won't be truly inspired until a politician looks at his core constituency and tells them they'll have to feel pain just like the rest of us.
Statesmanship like that hasn't existed, to my knowledge, in quite some time in our country.
