The future is better than the past. Despite the crepehangers, romanticists, and anti-intellectuals, the world steadily grows better because the human mind, applying itself to environment, makes it better.   3. I've always taken this to mean that those who work hard and work smart will always make things better, even though the rest of the world is trying to drag us back.
